Mike Collins is a director and cinematographer based in New York City with a love of American craftsmanship. Mike began his career working in documentary television where he discovered he had a love of visual storytelling. His career began as an editor where he worked for various networks including PBS, The Travel Channel and The Learning Channel. When a cinematographer missed a shoot and a camera was thrust into his hands a twenty year love affair with motion pictures began.
Mike has been working on a series of short films in a series called Cinema Mercantile that focuses on American craftsmanship with subjects ranging from a custom motorcycle builder working in an old factory to a recent college graduate who has opened her own letterpress business in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. When he isn’t operating a camera or editing a short film Mike is a happily married father of two looking for the next story to tell. Mike is now bringing his storytelling sensibility and aesthetic to Whiskey Grade where he is a recent addition.
