We’ve been a huge fan of Relic from the start of Anchor Division. We’ve been watching them develop and mature over time and develop a cult following.
Oscar Zabala, the creative behind the brand has maintained this dark aesthetic behind it since the beginning. Relic NYC recently launched a collection called “Sacred Youth” that feature some key processes that make these shirts so special and at the highest quality we’ve seen in a tee to this day.
The collection consists of organic tees with a photo series by Tommy Nease. Organic material and dyed using only natural inks and new sustainable & organic printing methods. It begins in Texas, where Relic source pure organic cotton all grown on sustainable farms. It’s then spun and manufactured into a lightweight fabric at traditional mills in North Carolina.
Afterwards, their fabric is cut and sewn into an elegant, relaxed-fit crew neck in the neighborhood of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. And, finally, each tee is naturally dyed and printed using only water-based inks and newly developed organic techniques, which result in a print that literally becomes part of the fabric’s strands. Unlike other screen printing techniques, this process creates a print on the shirt that will not crack, peel or fade after years of wear.
