For those that like their furniture well-travelled, we take a look at a little Scandinavian minimalism via Japan with this latest collection from retail heavyweight United Arrows. Joining with urban property developers PROUD, UA develops a series of minimal pieces which will be placed in city show apartments under the PROUD group umbrella. With an understated Nordic feel, the line echoes the very best of European mid-century design. The simple, solid forms of Danish master Hans Wegner provide the clearest reference — the “SF-1” — which is a nod to the icon’s CH163 sofa. UA’s fresh version is upholstered in a beautiful grey Irish linen.
Other notable selections include the “CN-1” light oak storage cabinet, a clean cream linen and rust leather take on the “SF-1” and the dark wood “LT-1” coffee table with a suspended leather shelf. These are on sale at the United Arrows Harajuku Women’s Museum from mid-June — start researching helpful proxies and gigantic freight containers now
